At Green Apple Garden Playschool, we celebrate authentic childhood, which means that play, that fundamental work of children, directs our days. In keeping with emergent curriculum, the Waldorf education model and the Reggio Emilia approach, each group is child-led as much as possible — the teachers weave each day’s lesson plans from the children’s interests, ideas and imagination. Our staff follows the discipline practice of positive guidance, helping children to understand their emotions and develop their own control rather than relinquishing all of their control to adults.
In the Outside World
Weather permitting, we play outdoors whenever we are able, often surpassing our minimum of two hours per day. During this time, wemake art and music, run and sit, garden and build, observe and explore. Alongside their teachers, children construct environmental educationwith their own grubby fingersand learn what it means daily to be good stewards of the earth.
